11/6/2019 0 Comments Blog #3 October-November 2019HACKATHON: This month in Help Desk the class had an opportunity to attend a Hackathon run by "MAHacks". This is an event where students learn to code, students can make an app, game, or website in 24 hours. This is not the conventional "Hacking" people tend to have in mind. This is called White Hat Hacking and it is beneficial to companies to help sort pout issues that could have been missed. https://safebreach.com/White-Hat-Hackers ORACLE: On October 15th of 2019 employees from Oracle, one of the largest corporations in the town of Burlington. One of which is the accessibility portion of the settings. Apple has accessibility support open 24/7. *(877-204-3930) Some of the features are the following, Switch Control for Mac, Triple Tap to Zoom, Accessibility Keyboarders, Text to Speech, Speech too Text, Magnifier, Larger Text, Various Button Shapes, On/Off Labels, Smart Invert, Dark Mode, Assistive Touch, Voice Controls (IOS13 & UP), and Guided Access. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT210433 NINTENDO RING FIT: This was a fun exercise driven game similar to the WII Sports prremise. The game is powered by the Nintendo Switch. In order to play you need the physical hardware device along with the software game and they work simultaneously. The Switch tracks your movements and transforms them into the game and you can plan accordingly. This is a very fun alternative to conventional workout routines. But... perhaps think about adding this in a few days a week and keep your gym membership, because their is no guarantee that you will loose all the weigh you want too and gain 100 pounds of muscle from this device. https://www.amazon.com/s?k=nintendo+fit+ring&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIo6_gpIDX5QIVEGyGCh0puAz9EAAYASAAEgIut_D_BwE&hvadid=384230410293&hvdev=c&hvlocphy=9001881&hvnetw=g&hvpos=1t1&hvqmt=e&hvrand=16823878813334570956&hvtargid=kwd-825506724611&hydadcr=7978_9875385&tag=googhydr-20&ref=pd_sl_34zoijygpj_e AWS (AMAZON WEB SERVICES) CHATBOTS: Chatbots are a very useful tool that has been in use for a long time. Some early chatbots were actually used as therapists. But as you can imagine computers are not that great with feelings. We started out programming simple Chatbots in Amazon Lex, that greets users. WE can make our own topics such as a mobil car service, and paste a code in the AWS Software to help create the Chatbot. This seems easy but the class came across many difficulties with properly inserting information in the provided slots, and also what should be present in the slots is not always very clear. This is especially true for beginners within the AI technology. IT would be more beneficial to get familiar with some terminology before starting the assignment. But in general the Chatbot technology could soon see some more widespread use in the near future, this would add convenience to customer service. https://aws.amazon.com/lex/
