Google Applied Digital Skills: Hello students and staff, this week I continued working on my spreadsheet for my investing business idea. I finished up the expenses, and general costs of starting my investment company. Then, google prompted me to learn how to the SUM function in the spreadsheet. This allowed me to add up all of my startup costs calculating them all at once. This is much simpler than doing all of the math manually. I also used the FREQUENCY function. This calculates the frequency distribution of a one-column array into specified classes. And lastly the TRANSPOSE function. Which transposes the rows and columns of an array or range of cells. Next google prompted me to find out my safety net, or reserve of cash just incase I overspend in my startup idea. I did so by taking 10% of my total startup cost. I also had to account for inventory, which my business has none. My business is strictly investments. I have no need for extra space like a warehouse. I am also working on a business plan and description. This will include my goals, target market, product and service details, and about me page. I am also looking into some potential competitors. Coding: I have also been working on Code.org with Mrs. Andersons class. I have learned a lot about formatting paragraphs, and titles in code. Overview: This weeks activity was extremely enjoyable. Who knows maybe one day this very rough idea of a business can become a reality.

Google Applied Digital Skills: This week I have been working on Googles, Applied Digital Skills. Google Applied Digital Skills is a free online curriculum that can be accessed by individual learners or used in a classroom setting. Project-based units help students practice basic skills using Google's G Suite for Education applications (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, etc.). We get to choose our own topics of interest, that makes this assignment more in tune with us personally. My Experiences With Google's G Suite: I have chosen to use Finance, and business creation as my subject for the next few weeks. The portal is connected with Google Sheets, and does a fantastic job integrating all of these applications together in a easy format. After you have chosen a topic of interest, you can now begin. Google prompts you with videos, lots of helpful information, along with interactive instructions, and links. Google Sheets: Google Sheets is a spreadsheet program included as part of a free, web-based software office suite offered by Google within its Google Drive service. It is a modern version of Excel. Google Sheets is a spreadsheet creator in which you can manage your finances, start a budget, or calculate expenses for your business, etc. Personally I am starting to calculate expenses for a business idea. My Business Idea: My business idea is an investment company. This company primarily invests into commercial Real Estate, and Leverage funds in the stock market. This week I worked on finding partners to help me start, calculting what percentage everyone owns, salaries, expenses, loans, an office space, and private investors. 4/3/2020 0 Comments Coronavirus Blog 4/03/2020I want to start off saying that the past 3 weeks have been extremely difficult and unpredictable for everyone. It is important to use a day-to-day basis. A Pandemic has not happened in anyones lifetime. Nobody likes the idea of having too stay isolated inside their homes, and keeping physical, face-to-face social life to a minimum. But this is now a reality. School has been canceled since the the 13th of March 2020. Everyone had bad luck on that Friday the 13th. Then April first came about, but this is not an April fools joke! Now that I have covered the basic situation that has engulfed the world, I will continue to talk about adapting, and some short term solutions for this issue. First off for myself and my family, we are very close and have many family gatherings. This has affected my family quite a bit. I have lots of elderly family members that are at high risk. I have family in Italy. Some of my family in Italy is over 100 years old. So you can imagine how we feel right now. Another example are my Grandparents. They are 91 years old and alive alone in Arlington MA. I would regularly go visit them multiple times a week and help them out, and keep them company and make them laugh. But Coronavirus took my family away from me. As you may suspect my elderly grandparents do not have any technology in their house except a landline phone. So thankfully for phones I get to call them everyday. I also use an old school tactic to safely in interact with them, I talk to them through the window outside their house. Thankfully, the school has responded to this Pandemic in a very timely and efficient way. They did the best they could for how fast this virus spread, and the limited time and supplies they had. The school also created an online schooling program. I am thankful that myself and the other students can now continue, and finish top their high school career. There are also lots of grey areas, and lots of questions that many students have. But as of right now, the answers are non existent. I am not blaming the school by any means, I give them a lot of credit. Google Hangouts: We have been using Google Hangouts, this product works well and it is efficient. It is a way to connect students and teachers. So far we have only used Google products. Such as Classroom, Slides, Sites, Hangouts, Docs, And Drive. We have been following a Remote Learning Schedule and it works well. But it did get boring, not interacting with students and teachers in person. I like the idea of getting participation grades instead of traditional letter grades. Hopefully this remains the reality for the following weeks. I Hope You And Your Family's Stay Safe! |
